The Many Uses of Copper Peptides

copper peptidesWhat are Copper Peptides?

As a form of copper, copper peptides or GHK-Cu is a protein compound made up of three amino acids, making it a tripeptide.  Even though copper peptide is a small protein fragment, it has many different uses.  Wound healing, anti-inflammatory, stimulation of collagen, immune cells attraction, improvement of hair health and promotion of blood vessel growth, are a few benefits to this sliver of protein.

Copper Peptides in Food

Copper Peptides aren’t only found in skin and hair products, they can also be found in food sources as well.  In the sea, oysters and shellfish are most known to contain copper.  On land, copper can be found in beef, cereals, wheat, green leafy vegetables, beans, nuts and potatoes.  Most nutritionists recommend 1-3 mg of copper in your daily diet but it can range depending on your health needs.  Vegetarians tend to consume more copper than meat-eaters but it has been studied that absorption is not as successful.

Other Uses of Copper Peptides

Copper peptides for healing: Collagen develops when used on skin, when copper and peptides are used in unison they can affect the success of antioxidants.  GHK-Cu can be used on sun damage, chemical peel damage and many other skin infections.

Copper peptides for anti-inflammatory needs: Cooper Peptides can be used to suppress inflamed tissue and slow down the process of inflammation.

Copper peptides for stimulation of collagen: Copper peptides can help with the elasticity of the skin while improving skin appearance. It also can help regulate the rate of collagen growth, preventing the flow of oxidation-promoting iron into the tissue of the skin.

Copper peptides for immune cell attraction: Copper peptides regulate immune cells and diseases can develop in those who are deficient in copper.

Copper peptides for blood vessel growth:  GHK-Cu has angiogenic properties and can improve the process of microcirculation. This process also assists with hair growth because this increase in blood vessel growth helps with providing your hair with the oxygen and nutrients it needs in order to produce healthy hair.

Copper peptides for hair health: Copper peptides have been shown to help with overall hair growth. It has even been said that copper peptides have a similar effect on hair as a 5% minoxidil treatment. Minoxidil is mostly known to help treat hair loss associated with androgenic alopecia (Male Pattern Baldness). The connection between copper peptides and minoxidil is that both have the ability to block the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which is a hair growth curbing hormone. Together with the ability to block DHT as well as the ability to create more blood vessels and oxygen within the scalp, copper peptides help with the stimulation of hair follicles, ultimately assisting with improving hair health and hair growth.
