Is 5% Topical Minoxidil More Effective Than 2% Topical Minoxidil in Treatment of Female Hair Loss?

In a 48-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, multicenter trial compared the efficacy and safety of 5% topical Minoxidil with 2% topical Minoxidil and placebo in the treatment of female pattern hair loss[1]. Topical Minoxidil solution 2% stimulates new hair growth and helps stop the loss of hair in men with androgenetic alopecia and women with female pattern hair loss. This compares with 7% of women reporting moderate hair regrowth after using the placebo, the liquid without the active ingredient in it, for 8 months (7% had moderate regrowth, 33% had minimal regrowth).
